In 2017 together with Sergey Tonoyan we started investigating the issue to uncover the story of those who are deliberately kept as hostages in dangerous closeness to the front-line between Artsakh Republic and Azerbaijan, where ceasefire violations are of a common practice. Artsakh Republic has 2 settlements close to front-line with total population of 985 people (estimated number prior to April war of 2016, when lots of people left their homes). Azerbaijan has 32 villages with confirmed population equal to 47 thousands, while the population of the half of the villages is unknown (estimated total number is close to 100 000).
